Tetrazygia bicolor is a shrub or small tree found in the pine rocklands and hammocks of the Miami Rock Ridge. The conspicuous yellow anthers add extra color to its floral display.
This rare bromeliad, Tillandsia pruinosa, is only found attached to trees in Collier County swamp forests. Its close relatives, wild pine (or cardinal airplant) and Spanish moss, are much more widespead.
The sweetbay, Magnolia virginiana, is a wetland tree widespread in the southeastern U.S. The large white flower produces a cone-like fruit with bright red seeds.
